SLASHER
2026 | Narrative Short Film | Drama | 1.66:3 Aspect Ratio | 5 mins
Patchwork Cinema presents a National Film and Television School production
Driven by desperation and under the thumb of a ruthless authority figure, an underdog goes to absurd lengths to earn the approval of a community of posturing tough guys and participate in the ultimate high-stakes test.
With Slasher, I wanted to lean into the inherent ridiculousness of hypermasculinity. I wanted to take a look at the many facets of manhood expectations, from the individual, to sons and their father figures, to the wider male community at large. Analysing that beneath the posturing, the intimidation, and the performative toughness lies something deeply fragile.
